The bridge is popularly known as "The Bridge Over Troubled Waters." The reason for this name is based on two stories. One says that several years ago, a resident of Augusta, Wisconsin, murdered his family and then committed suicide by hanging himself on the bridge. His ghost has haunted the bridge for nearly 100 years. Another story says that during the Depression a Black man hung himself on the bridge and has since haunted the area. |
